Asst Director of Engineering Services & Planning Coachella Valley Water District Palm Desert, CA
SOLD OUT! Tour two of north San Diego County’s coastal wastewater treatment and reclamation programs: San Elijo Joint Powers Authority’s upgraded San Elijo Water Campus and the recently commissioned City of Oceanside’s Pure Water Oceanside.
San Elijo Joint Powers Authority (SEJPA) was recognized as CWEA’s 2021 Plant of the Year (medium). The SEJPA plants treats 3 million gallons per day of wastewater, captures and treats local stormwater, and produces 2,000 acre-feet per year of recycled water through conventional and advanced treatment processes. The recently completed San Elijo Water Campus program features a new administration and operations center and campus-wide improvements that promote community engagement, water quality, sustainability, and safety.
Pure Water Oceanside uses advanced water purification (nutrient removal, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, and advanced oxidation) to treat up to 5 mg/d of wastewater and provides approximately 30% of the City’s potable water demand. The potable reuse facility produces purified water that is injected into the local groundwater basin which is then extracted and treated again at the City’s groundwater purification facility. Bus transportation and lunch is included.
