Across California, water conservation is causing more and more challenges related to treatment wastewater to meet water quality objectives for ammonia and nitrate. This presentation will dive deep into these issues to give the audience a clear understanding of how conservation can, and likely is, impacting their facility.
Learning Objectives:
Develop a sampling plan that can be used to support the preparation of a capacity assessment
Explain how influent flows and load are impacted from water conservation
Explain to decision makers why a reduction in a plant's rated capacity due to water conservation does not mean the plant cannot serve the intended population
Modify an MLE treatment system that has been impacted by water conservation to improve nitrification and denitrification performance
