Performance of Advanced Primary Treatment Technologies at Water Resource Recovery Facilities

Compared to conventional primary treatment, advanced primary treatment (APT) technologies provide benefits including increased primary treatment performance, enhanced biological treatment, energy savings, footprint reductions and resource recovery. Impacts of four APT technologies on the performance of water resource recovery facilities are evaluated in this comprehensive technology development and demonstration project.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to have a clear understanding of the performance of four innovative advanced primary treatment technologies and how these technologies can enhance primary effluent characteristics.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to learn how and what role advanced primary treatment technologies can play in improving treatment performance, energy efficiency and footprint reduction.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to have an understand of the significance of carbon diversion on treatment enhancement, capacity increase, and energy savings.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to learn how the primary treatment technologies can impact the performance of advanced secondary treatment systems, which provide effluent for advanced water treatment facilities.
